In today’s lesson, Jesus describes desperate times. His language is vivid and apocalyptic. There is no doubt that there are horrific events that take place in this world and in our lives. It is easy to be given to fear. And too often we live in fear and make our choices based on that fear. But through it all, Jesus reminds us not to fear. Instead of living in fear, we live in faith which overcomes our fear. The text for this Sunday is Luke 21:5–28.
